The Bills host the Chargers on Sunday, September 27, at 1 p.m. ET. Buffalo is 2–0 and scoring 38.5 points per game. Los Angeles is 0–2 and has scored 14 points in each loss. On paper, Buffalo should take care of business. My question is whether the Bills can do it without asking Josh Allen to carry every stretch of the game.
Allen was brilliant against Detroit: 248 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, and five total touchdowns. Dalton Kincaid added seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. That combination should worry a Chargers defense that enters Week 3 ranked 29th against the pass. I expect Joe Brady to establish the run early, then use Kincaid across the middle to create space for Allen. Buffalo should be aggressive, but it has enough options to avoid turning every possession into an Allen highlight attempt.
The defensive test
Buffalo has allowed 31 points in each of its first two games. Against Detroit, it contained the run and still gave up six plays of 20 yards or more. Los Angeles has made its own mistakes through two weeks, but I would not count on those mistakes to win the game for Buffalo. The Bills need cleaner communication and fewer free yards.
What I expect: Allen and Kincaid will find opportunities, Buffalo will score around 30, and the defense will make enough stops to keep the fourth quarter under control. I will be watching whether the Bills hold Los Angeles below 24 points and cut down the explosive plays.
Our pick: Buffalo 31, Los Angeles 20. A win would make them 3–0. A more balanced win would tell us even more about this team.
